Alu 65 | Aloo 65 Recipe – Ingredients, Cooking Method and Tips

Alu 65 is one of the crunchy deep fried recipe made as a starter, eaten prior to the main course in most of the Indian restaurants, and this is one of the most commonly prepared evening snack in India. This is very simple and awesome recipe. It is very easy to cook and takes hardly 15-30 minutes. Alu is one of the vegetable which is loved by everyone and it is being cooked in many different ways. ALU 65 is prepared by using semi boiled potatoes seasoned with spices.

Ingredients for Preparing Batter

  • 2 big Potatoes semi boiled ( 90% cooked )
  • 3 tablespoon heaped Corn flour
  • 3 tablespoon Maida
  • Salt and little water

Ingredients for Seasoning

  • 3 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic paste
  • 8-10 slitted Green chillies
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoon Yogurt (Bitter, Salty)
  • 1 pinch Orange-Red colour
  • 1/4 tablespoon Aginomoto
  • 1/4 tablespoon Salt
  • 1/4 tablespoon White pepper

Method for making Alu 65

  • Peel the boiled potatoes and chop them. Combine corn flour and maida sprinkling little water so as to form the coating ( coating should be in thin form ).
  • Deep fry each piece of ALU till its colour turns to pink.
  • Take it out and keep aside.

Seasoning for ALU 65

  • Heat 3 tbsp sesame oil in a wok (pan)
  • Add ginger garlic paste, green chilli and curry leaves
  • Now add yogurt and color. Saute for sometime.
  • Add aginomoto, salt and white pepper. Finally add the fried Alu. Mix well.
    SERVE after 15 minutes.

Additional Tips

  • If yogurt is not bitter then add lime juice to curd.
  • You can use Vinegar as an alternative of lime juice.
  • If coating is thin, add equal quantity of maida and cornflour to the batter.
