Cabbage / Gobi / Patta Gobi

Cabbage is a green leafy vegetable. It belongs to the family of Brassicaceae. It can be green, purple and white in colour. It is a vegetable round in shape, consisting of layers of thick leaves that grow around each other from the stem. Green cabbage is the one, which is commonly used, while the other two are found rare. These cabbage are very closely related to other cole crops, such as cauliflower, broccoli and brussels sprouts. It is grown annually.

Cabbage plants are 40-60 centimeter tall in first year and about 1.5-2.0 meter tall, when flowering in second year. Its head weighs between 1-8 pounds that is about 0.5-4.0 kilograms. Plants perform best when grown in well-drained soil. They are to be grown at a place where it receives sun light. Self-pollination is impossible and the plants are cross-pollinated by insects.
