Cauli flower

Cauliflower belongs to the family of “Brassicaceae”. The name cauliflower is derived from the latin word “caulis” means cabbage and flower. It is a cool seasonal crop and resembles the broccoli but differs in having flower buds.

White cauliflower : It is the cauliflower, which is generally used by the people.

Green cauliflower : It is also called as broccoflower. It is available both with normal curd shape and a variant spiky curd called “Romanesco broccoli”.

Orange cauliflower : It has a similar taste as of white cauliflower, but has more vitamin A than white.

Purple cauliflower : The purple colour in this cauliflower is due to the presence of the antioxidants. These are also found in red cabbage and red wine.

Cauliflower can be boiled, fried, roasted, steamed or even eaten raw. The head, that is the florets are eaten rather than the leaves and stalk. The florets are broken into small size and then cooked. A continuous stirring process may break the florets. Cauliflower can be stored, by keeping its head in the plastic bag and refrigerating it.
