Mutter Paneer Recipe – Ingredients, Method of cooking

Mutter Paneer is very tasty and loved by the Paneer and peas lovers. There are many recipes made for those who love paneer, like paneer butter masala, shahi paneer, palak paneer and many more. But this is the recipe for the one who loves the mutter. The soft paneer in a tomato gravy with green peas is a mutter paneer. We have used milk, spices and fenugreek seeds in this recipe.

Mutter Paneer

Ingredients for making Mutter Paneer

  • 2 1/2 cup Paneer (Cottage Cheese) cubes
  • 1/4 cup boiled Mutter (Green Peas)
  • 1/4 cup Onion cubes
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 2 cup Tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin (Jeera) Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (Methi seeds)
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup fresh Cream
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tablespoon Oil

To be ground to a fine paste

  • 1 cup roughly chopped Onions
  • 1 inch Ginger piece (Adhrakh)
  • 6-7 cloves garlic (Lahusan/Lasan)
  • 2 tablespoon broken Cashewnuts (Kaju)

Method for making Mutter Paneer

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add the ground paste.
  • Saute till it turns to light brown in colour.
  • Then add the red chilli powder, cumin powder and saute for few minutes.
  • Now add the tomato puree and cook for few minutes.
  • Add the garam masala and some water (1/2 cup) and cook for some more time.
  • Cook till the oil separates from the masala and keep aside.
  • In another pan, melt the butter and add the fenugreek seeds and the onions.
  • Cook till the onions are lightly browned.
  • Now add this to the above prepared tomato gravy.
  • Also add the peas, milk, cream, paneer and salt. Let it come to boil and saute for sometime.
  • Mutter paneer is ready to serve.
