Palak paneer Recipe – Ingredients, Method of Cooking

Palak paneer is nutritious and very popular in Punjab of India. It consists of spinach (Palak) and paneer (Cottage cheese). As these both are used together it makes the dish more and more healthier.
So, we can make this healthy dish for the children and they will definitely love it by the appearance and by taste too. It is generally eaten with chapati, roti or any type of Indian bread.

Ingredients for making Palak paneer

  • 3-4 bunches of palak (Spinach)
  • 1 1/2 cup Paneer (Cottage Cheese) cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped Onions
  • 4 cloves Garlic paste
  • 1 inch ginger paste
  • 2 finely chopped Green chillies
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh Cream

Method for making Palak Paneer

  • Remove the stems of palak. Wash thoroughly and blanch in the salted boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
  • Drain, refresh using the chilled (cold) water and allow to cool for sometime.
  • Then blend the mixture to a smooth puree and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add the onions and saute continuously on a medium flame.
  • After 3-4 minutes add the ginger paste, garlic paste and green chilli paste.
  • Saute till the onions turn translucent.
  • Add the turmeric powder, spinach puree, some water and cook for sometime on a medium flame.
  • Add the salt, garam masala and cream and mix well.
  • Add the paneer cubes and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  • Palak paneer is ready to serve.

Tip

  • Add a little bit (a pinch) of sugar in the boiling water of spinach. This may help in retaining the green color of palak (spinach).
