Stuffed Capsicum Recipe / Bharwan Capsicum – Ingredients, Method of Cooking

Stuffed Capsicum is one of the loveliest spicy recipe. Capsicum lovers can enjoy the actual taste of capsicum, as here, in this recipe the capsicums are boiled, which gives delicious taste on every byte. The capsicums are stuffed with the fresh Indian spices. And this stuffing in boiled capsicum gives an awesome taste. The interesting thing in this recipe is that here the capsicums are being boiled first and then after stuffing, these capsicums are baked in an oven.

Ingredients for making Stuffed Capsicum

For this recipe we require to stuff the capsicum first and then make a gravy which is poured over the stuffed capsicum.

We require 8 medium sized Capsicum (Green Bell Pepper)

Ingredients for stuffing

  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds ( Jeera )
  • 1 cup chopped and boiled mixed vegetables ( carrot, french beans, green peas )
  • 1/2 cup crumbled Paneer ( Cottage Cheese )
  • 1/2 tea spoon finely chopped Green chillies
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoon chopped Coriander
  • Salt as per taste

Ingredients for making gravy

  • 2 cup chopped Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced Onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped red pumpkin ( kaddu )
  • 2 Cloves ( laung )
  • 1 stick Cinnamon ( Dalchini )
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 chopped Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds ( Jeera )
  • 1/2 teaspoon Corn flour mixed in 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 teaspoon Oil
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oil for greasing

Cut the upper surface of the capsicum and remove the seeds carefully. See that the capsicum may not break, so that if it breaks stuffing may not be possible.
Keep these capsicums in the boiling water and cook for few minutes.

Stuffed Capsicum

Method for stuffing the capsicums

  • Heat oil in a wok (pan). Add Cumin seeds and fry for a minute.
  • Add all the remaining ingredients and cook for few minutes and cook for few minutes.

Method for making gravy

  • Combine the tomatoes, onions, red pumpkin, garlic, ginger, cinnamon and cloves with 3/4 cup of water and cook over a slow flame till they are actually cooked.
  • Let this mixture cool and then remove both cinnamon and cloves.
  • Blend this mixture to a smooth puree.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds. When they crackle, add the above tomato puree, chilli powder and salt. Saute for sometime.
  • Add the cornflour mixture and fry for 2-3 minutes and keep aside.
  • Stuff the capsicum with the stuffing.
  • Arrange these capsicum on the greased baking dish.
  • Pour the boiling gravy on top of them.
  • Now bake these in a hot oven at 200 degree centigrade for 10 minutes.
