Aaloo Paratha Recipe – Ingredients, Method of Cooking

Aloo (Potatoes) is loved by everyone. Many types of curries, parathas, fryings are made using the potatoes. So, we can say it is an all-rounder, used in every recipe. These parathas are one of them liked by eveyone. It tastes awesome and also smells great. They are made in everyone’s home.
Everyone might be knowing the preparation of Aloo Paratha, but, the style of preparing differs. This is my style. My husband really loves the taste which i prepare and he loves to eat once in a week.

Ingredients for making Aloo Paratha

For the dough

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (Gehun ka aata)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • Salt as per taste

For Stuffing

  • 4 boiled Potatoes (Aloo)
  • 4 finely chopped Green chillies
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped Coriander leaves (Dhania)
  • 2 teaspoon Dry Mango (Amchur) Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander (Dhania) Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin (Jeera) Powder
  • 1/2 inch finely chopped Ginger (Adhrakh)
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric (Haldi) Powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Sugar if required

Method for making Aloo Paratha

For the dough

  • Take a bowl. Add the wheat flour, oil and salt.
  • Mix well and with the help of water make a soft dough and keep aside.

For Stuffing

  • Mash the boiled potatoes and keep aside.
  • Now, take a bowl. Add the mashed potatoes, green chillies, coriander leaves and dry mango powder.
  • Also add the coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger, turmeric and salt.
  • We can also add sugar if required.
  • Now mix well and keep aside.

How to stuff

  • Knead again the dough well, before using. Roll out a portion of the dough into a circle.
  • Now place a portion of dough in the center of the circle (the rolled dough).
  • Bring together all the sides in the center and seal tightly.
  • By using little flour, roll this again to a circle. This circle (paratha) should be little thick not as roti.
  • Now cook this paratha on the tawa (griddle). Fry on both the sides by applying ghee.
  • Cook till the sides are golden brown.
  • Make the remaining parathas in the same way.
  • Aloo parathas are ready to serve.

How to serve

             Serve Aloo Parathas with pickle, curd or raita.


  • There are many ways to stuff the parathas. The one we have seen before and the other one below.
  • Make a round roti, by using dough.
  • Cut from the center, make it into two halves.
  • Take one half and fill the stuff on half of the half roti and fold it over the stuff (which gives a triangle shape).
  • By using little flour roll it and this gives a triangle shape.
  • Fry and enjoy the delicious parathas.
