Mango Rice Recipe – Ingredients, Method of Cooking

Mango rice is one of the awesome recipe which can be said is specially made for the mango lovers. Every bite gives a flavor of mango. And this is the season where we can enjoy various delicious recipes using mangoes and this is one of them. Here, in this recipe we have used the raw mango which is grated and mixed with some assorted spices giving rich flavors.

Ingredients for making Mango Rice

  • 2 cup Rice
  • 4 cup Water
  • 2 small grated Raw (kacha) Mango
  • 1 sliced Onion
  • 3-4 Green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Chana dal
  • 1 tablespoon peanuts
  • 5-6 Curry leaves (Kadi patta)
  • 1 Bay leaf (Tej patta)
  • 1-2 Dry Red chilli
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds (Rai)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • Salt as per taste

Method for making Mango rice

  • Wash and cook the rice by adding salt as required.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add bay leaf, dried red chilli. After sometime add mustard seeds, when they get spluttered, add cumin seeds.
  • Add peanuts and saute, then add chana dal (see that their color should not get dark),saute for few seconds.
  • Add curry leaves, green chillies, onion and fry for a minute. Add turmeric powder.
  • Now add the mango, our main ingredient, and fry for sometime. Add salt as per taste.
  • Now mix the boiled rice with the mango, mix well.
  • Add sugar if needed and it is ready to serve.
