Naan Recipe – Ingredients, Method of Cooking

Naan is one of the Indian bread. It is prepared in a traditional way, in tandoor and hence, got the name “Tandoori naan”. But now, many techniques have come out to prepare naan in many ways. Here, we have used tawa, to prepare nan and is the easiest way to prepare at home. To have tandoor at home is not so possible for all. So, many of them use this simple technique and enjoy naan with different delicious curries.
Ingredients for making Naan

  • 1 cup Plain flour (Maida)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dry Yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Curd (Dahi)
  • 1 tablespoon melted Ghee
  • Salt as per taste
  • Butter for applying

Method for making Naan

  • Take a bowl. Add yeast, sugar and some warm water (5 tablespoon) to the bowl, mix well, cover and keep aside for 5-7 minutes.
  • Now, in another bowl, combine the plain flour, the above mixture (yeast-sugar mixture), curd, melted ghee, salt and knead into a soft dough, using warm water. The dough should be kneaded till smooth.
  • Cover the dough with a lid or wet muslin cloth for about 30-40 minutes.
  • After the completion of time, we observe that the volume of the dough increases slightly or even more.
  • Now, take a portion of dough and roll it to 5 inches usingĀ  little plain flour.
  • Heat a non-stick tawa. Apply water on one side of the naan and place it on tawa with the water side downwards.
  • When it puffs slightly, then turn the tawa upside down and roast on an open flame till it gets fine golden brown colour.
  • Now prepare the remaining naan in the same manner.
  • Apply butter on each naan and serve hot.
