Potato Murukku (Murukulu) Recipe – Ingredients, Method
Potato murukku is a deep fried snack. It is loved by everyone, even the children. It is good snack for time pass. Here, we have used rice flour along with the potatoes. It is very easy to make this snack. We make many sweets during the festivals. This goes well with these sweets. It gives a good combination with sweets.

Ingredients for making Potato Murukkul
- 2 cup Rice Flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Cumin (Jeera) Seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
- Salt as per taste
For grinding
- 1 Potato
- 2 tablespoon Water
- 1/4 cup Butter
Method for making Potato murukkul
- Cook the potato, cool and remove the skin and grind with a butter and water to a smooth paste.
- In a bowl mix all the ingredients : rice flour, cumin seeds, asafoetida and salt.
- Now add the ground potato paste to it and make a dough using required water.
- Cover it a with a cloth.
- Now take the murukkul press of any shape (round/star).
- Grease it firstly and then fill the mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add a pinch of dough to the oil, it should rise immediately, which gives the sign that the oil is ready to use.
- Press the murukkuls in the laddles and then directly drop these into the hot oil.
- Fry murukkuls on both the sides on a medium flame.
- Drain on an absorbent paper.
- Potato murukkul is ready to serve.
Tip
While pressing the murukkuls, if they broke, it means the dough ne again.eds little more water. Mix well.
