Tomato Puree – Alternative Method of Making

Tomato puree is the puree of tomatoes, which is made by boiling the tomatoes and then blend to a fine paste. This paste is used as a tomato puree and refrigerated for future use.

  • 4 big tomatoes

Method for making tomato puree

  • Boil some sufficient water in a vessel.
  • Remove the (upper part) eyes of the tomatoes. This can be done using the tip of the knife.
  • Now make a cut of “plus” sign (criss-cross) at the base of each tomato.
  • Add these tomatoes to the boiling water.
  • After sometime (3-4 minutes) remove the tomatoes and put in cold water for sometime.
  • When the tomatoes are cool, peel and discard the skin.
  • Blend to a smooth puree in a blender.
  • Refrigerate this puree and it can be used whenever required.
